Whenever spells are cast there is a risk of the arcane energies not acting as the spell caster intended. Spell casters with low Control scores are more prone to magical mishaps, but all mages will find themselves showered in butterflies—or tons of bricks—on occasion.

The spell caster develops an obsession with a skill she previously took no interest in for 2d10 days ahead, feeling that mastering it is a matter of vital importance.If the fumble was from an offensive or defensive spell:
The spell caster is transformed into a vampire, with all the stats changes and Innate powers inferred by her undead state. The condition lasts for d6 days unless the character tastes blood from a self-aware being, in which case it becomes permanent.If the fumble was from a spell with audiovisual effects:
