Need a random trap to throw at your players? Fear no more, we have what you’re looking for. Or at least something like it. Hey, you may have to jury-rig it and fuse a few wire, but it should run. More or less.
The traps suggested are generic; they may need a little adaptation to your game system of choice. Some may seem familiar; they’ve made the rounds on the internet in various forms, and it’s nigh impossible not to be inspired by them in some way or other.
Have an idea of your own? Feel very encouraged to add it in the comments or mail it to us. We’re delighted to give credit and a linkback for usable traps suggestions.

Nothing magical or sneaky about this obstacle; a massive pillar or boulder has fallen down to block the door. To pass, the adventurers must find a way to move it aside or somehow pass through the obstacle.
The way ahead is blocked by a door, next to which is a panel with five circular depressions in a single line. Next to it hangs a basket containing five coloured crystals: red, blue, yellow, green, and violet. Arranging the crystals in the order of the rainbow unlocks the door; any other combination triggers an explosion.
A shelf on one wall contains a number of labelled glass jars. Each label displays the name of a character in elegant cursive. If opened, the jars release the characters’ worst nightmares, which must be fought or otherwise overcome. To generate more suggestions, simply refresh the page.
