Traps!

Need a random trap to throw at your players? Fear no more, we have what you’re looking for. Or at least something like it. Hey, you may have to jury-rig it and fuse a few wire, but it should run. More or less.

The traps suggested are generic; they may need a little adaptation to your game system of choice. Some may seem familiar; they’ve made the rounds on the internet in various forms, and it’s nigh impossible not to be inspired by them in some way or other.

A hallway or corridor appears to be covered in fine cobwebs — thin strands of near-invisible thread criss-crossing the space seemingly at random. It’s not difficult to tear aside, nor is it sticky — but touching the threads triggers hidden flamethrowers.
A wall of fire blocks the path ahead. It looks impossible to pass, but is actually an illusion. The characters can walk right through — they just have to realise that first.
Not all traps are magical or complex: The characters find themselves in a dead end from which the only way forward is through the sewer pipes.
